The country now has almost no pepper left for export for the second half of the year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. For the first six months of the year, Viet Nam, the world’s top pepper producer, exported 85,000 tonnes worth US$552 million.
In recent years, Vietnam has been a world leader in the manufacture and export of pepper. However, pepper export price is lower than some countries, so the branding for agricultural products should be implemented as soon as possible.
The world’s statistics showed that the pepper plantation of Vietnam at the time of 50 years ago was 300 hectares and was 426 hectares only in 20 years later, so the country’s pepper area proportion in the world stood still at 0.2%.
HCM CITY — Viet Nam exported 62,000 tonnes of pepper worth US$424 million in the first five months of the year, maintaining its top position among pepper exporters worldwide, according to the Export – Import Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
